*ACS (International) students with Aaron Ho (Christian Ministry Staff)*

107 students, staff and alumni from ACS (International), the Christian Fellowships of ACS (Independent) and Anglo-Chinese Junior College, youths from HVMC, all came together as one, on 24 April 2026, to worship the one true God.

It started with an idea. With worship nights being an annual affair for many other Methodist schools – Passion AC (ACJC), Night of Worship (ACS Independent), LoveMG (MGS) - could we possibly have our own? A time and place for Christian students in the school to gather and worship in the presence of the Lord. Students leading other students in worship. A spark to set off ripples of change through the school where there will be a greater openness to God.

Bathed in Prayer

With prayer and perseverance, Pastor Jeremy and Aaron Ho (Christian Ministry Staff) held the idea of a worship night in their hearts. Praise the Lord, in Nov 2025, we got the green light to go ahead and IGNITE AC 2026 came to be.

A band was formed – Karik and Ezzy (HVMC youth and students at ACS (International), Janaine (a parent from the School), Christine (ACS International student), Thomas and Theophilus (staff at HVMC) together with Aaron. It was not easy to find common times to practise. We also often asked ourselves: Who would come for IGNITE? All we could do was to continue to prepare and to pray.

Without a doubt, the prayer support from the Pray Together team, the parents and the onsite Prayer & Worship night was critical to the Spirit moving at IGNITE.

Surprised by our Faithful & Mighty God

We should not have been surprised but to be honest we were. We witnessed students worshipping freely with eyes closed and raised hands, some huddled together in prayer, others kneeling in surrender. Droves of students came up to be ministered to, after Pastor Hern Shung’s (Trinity Methodist Church) powerful message from Zechariah 4:6. “…Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord Almighty.” The response was beyond what my small heart of faith could imagine.

What was even more startling was, a day before the event, we discovered from HVMC member, Charlotte Goh, that 10 years ago, on 31 August 2016 , ACS (International) had organized their very first worship night in John Wesley Hall and guess what! - it was called IGNITE. Only the Lord could have orchestrated such evidence of His faithfulness and His never failing work within the school.

May we continue to pray that the hearts of students and staff will be set on fire with love for God and that we may live out our faith with boldness.

When I watched friends and strangers alike huddled in prayer, eyes looking heavenward or arms lifted in praise, I knew the Lord was present in the chapel. These precious moments filled me with so much joy and gratitude to God for this event.
