Camping with Jesus

PLAY TO LEARN

Fun & Games @ HVMC’s Kids’ Camp

The HVMC Children’s Camp was held from 29 Nov to 1 Dec 2023. 27 children attended the 3-day camp, learning through Peter’s discipleship journey, that Jesus can guide them through all the twists and turns of their lives. We are thankful for the ten young volunteers and six adults who helped us plan, prepare and run the lessons, the craft sessions, as well as the games and activities.

FULFILLING! FRUITFUL! FUN!

Amazing Experiences at Youth Camp

23 youths participated in the 4-day 3-night Youth Camp held at the Heritage Chalet in Pasir Ris, from 14 to 17 Dec 2023. Our camp speaker was Samuel Choo, Ministry Staff for Youth Ministry (IGNITE) from Christ Methodist Church.

Here’s what our young people have to say about the Youth Camp:

Youth Camp was REALLY FUN, as I got to know my seniors better and the games and activities organised were awesome!

- Xavier Mah

I'm really grateful we all got to talk and encourage each other, whether it be at meals, during sessions or at our abseiling activity! And I am SUPER EXCITED TO GROW IN CHRIST together as we enter the new year.

- Ezrela Chao

The camp was such a WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITY for me to grow closer to the other youth in our church, and to encounter God more deeply and personally. I was especially touched during our worship and prayer sessions, where I could truly feel God’s presence working, such that I could lay down all my worries and surrender them to Him. I feel so blessed to be able to forge deeper connections with my brothers and sisters in Christ, sharing tears and laughter. I pray that our Youth Ministry will stay rooted in this faith and always overflow with our love for Jesus!

- Erika Chou

It was a FRUITFUL AND MEANINGFUL experience for me. I witnessed many of my fellow youth believers being touched by His love and surrendering their lives to God. This camp has made me more committed to participate in the Youth Ministry and to pray for its growth in the years to come.

- John Tan

My daylong sojourn at the Camp was nothing short of TRANSFORMATIVE as I was encouraged in my own faith journey. The inclusive and exuberant atmosphere was a sheer delight to behold, especially for the graduating primary six cohort being inducted into the Youth Ministry.

Through facilitating and participating in various games such as human foosball and water volley bomb, I realised how well these team activities can cultivate community and connection among the youth, while nurturing a deeper relationship with God.

- Samuel Chong

If we had to describe this year’s Youth Camp in one word, IT WOULD BE “WOW”!  My favourite part of the camp was the altar calls as I witnessed so many youths on their knees surrendering their lives to God, including myself. I am now no longer self-conscious about praying on my knees in front of others or raising my hands during worship. I am so grateful for all who prayed for me. I really enjoyed the times of joy and laughter, tears and pain that we girls shared. I pray that the youth of HVMC will make time to come for youth services and attend future camps.

The Camp has FAR EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS.  As a youth ministry dedicated to fostering a close-knit community, we explored the camp theme of "Growing Together". Samuel Choo led sessions prompting us to collectively decide on aspects of growth together in Christ - such as love, boldness, trust, and faith. He emphasized the need to immerse ourselves in the things of God. These lessons were eye-opening, not only deepening our individual faith with Christ, but also supporting and encouraging our spiritual siblings in their own faith journey.

One especially thrilling activity involved an amazing race across Singapore, where we had to decipher clues and complete tasks along the way. Ultimately, each life group received a code word to unlock keys for home. What a way to drive home the message that the journey of faith is one of teamwork and co-operation!

The Camp left me with A PROFOUND SENSE OF FULFILMENT. The connections forged during the sleepover with my fellow campmates are enduring. Departing, I carried a sense of warmth and anticipation for the upcoming Youth Camp 2024.

- Eliza Tan

HVMC Youth Camp 2023 was my FIRST EVER youth camp and I really enjoyed it! My most memorable times were the sermons, where I felt very touched by God and even shed a tear. There were many interactive games and bonding activities such that by the end of the camp, I felt that we had all grown closer together.

- Joshua Xie

My first youth camp truly was a wonderful experience as the other youths made me feel like I BELONG. It truly shows their love and reverence for God, as they took care of us newbies.  Please join Youth Camp 2024 from 9-12 June! See you there!
