Jesus in the Hood

School Ministry & Youth

HVMC has truly embraced the work and ministry at ACS (International) through the years, and this August and September was no different. With generosity of heart, time and finances, HVMC has been a channel of God’s love and hope to parents, staff and students at the school.

Finding out about God at YOUTH ALPHA

August saw the end of Youth Alpha which was held over a period of 10 sessions during Junior and Senior lunchtimes. In collaboration with the Witness & Evangelism Ministry, Youth Alpha followed up with students who had responded to God’s call during the Religious Emphasis Week. Students got to ask questions to grow their faith and to discover the journey of discipleship.  We had an average of six juniors and 14 seniors, three of whom are seekers.

Please pray along with us as we continue lunch time Bible study for five seniors, that they may recognise Christ as truly the Way, the Truth and the Life.

Bubble tea joy at INTERNATIONAL DAY

At ACS (International), we don’t just celebrate Singapore’s National Day, we have International Day in August, with cultural performances, decorations, costumes and most importantly, food! Organised by the Parent Support Partners (PSP), we celebrated the nations that many of the School’s students come from: Singapore, Vietnam, China, Korea, Japan and Indonesia. Some of our HVMC Youth and School Ministry team spread bubble tea joy to ACS (International) during the event, but our prayer is that they will come to experience the true joy that comes from Christ.

Running for a good cause at CHOICE TO RUN

HVMC showed strong support for Choice to Run 2025. Together with the students and teachers, 26 HVMC staff, members and youths ran their hearts out to raise funds for FaithActs, the community care service of the Methodist Church. HVMC’s financial support was also greatly appreciated. May the bonds built between HVMC members and the staff and students pave the way for deeper relationships and opportunities for sharing.

Gospel encouragement at STUDY NIGHTS

Exam Care Packs for students

The school will be open for Study Nights for Year 4 and 6 students every Tuesday and Thursday night from 25 September to 11 November 2025. Together with the PSP who will be providing meals, we are inviting HVMC members to join us to provide a listening ear to the students and to encourage and pray for them. The Parents Prayer Group (PPG) has also designed “Letters from God” bookmarks to provide God’s perspective and reassurance during this stressful period.

SNAPSHOTS OF MORE PARTNERSHIP EVENTS

Coffee Cart: The ACS (International) teachers and staff greatly appreciated the caffeine boost from the Teacher’s Day Coffee cart sponsored by HVMC on 27 August 2025.

Pray Together (Staff): At our bi-termly Pray Together in August, the Senior Leadership Team, teachers and counsellors joined with HVMC to pray for the School. May more Christian teachers come to join us.

Lunch & Learn: This is an opportunity to build relationships with the non-teaching staff. During the September school holidays, at our 3rd Lunch & Learn session, HVMC member, Lionel Goh, shared practical tips on how to select cuts of beef.

Pilates: As part of Wellness Week, Ms Angie Seow conducted Pilates sessions for parents and students. She also shared her testimony of God’s healing and grace.

Just as Christ “became flesh and blood and moved into the neighbourhood” (John 1:14, The Message Bible), may HVMC embody Christ to ACS (International) by our presence, purposeful engagement and prayers, to reap a harvest of souls. Come join us and partner with God!
