Children Ministry

Jesus said, โ€œLet the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.โ€ Matthew 19:14

Our Mission

The Children Ministry of Holland Village Methodist Church aims to educate, nurture and lead children to become disciples of Jesus who will in turn disciple others to follow Jesus.

Our approach to building up the next generation targets:

Head โ€“ To know God and His will through the study of His word.

Heart โ€“ To love God and to respond in obedience to His commands.

Hands โ€“ To live and serve in a manner to glorify God and reach the world for Jesus.

Our Classes

We meet every Sunday except Holy Communion Sundays (first Sunday of every month)

Our children are grouped into age-specific classes:

If you would like your child to join our classes, or you love children and want to join us as a volunteer, please contact Janine Lum at janine@hvmc.sg or 64767795.

Discipleship & Nurture

In the words of the apostle Paul, โ€œall Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.โ€ (2 Timothy 3:16-17) Even though the Bible is thousands of years old, it comes alive and is applicable for every generation in the 21st century.

HVMC Discipleship & Nurture Ministry aims to help every believer live as salt and light in our modern society by:

  1. Building us up in the solid foundation of Godโ€™s Word through various courses such as DISCIPLE Bible Study Series, engagement sessions as well as book and topical studies.

  2. Helping us grow in intimacy with God and experience ongoing transformation towards Christlikeness through spiritual formation courses as well as guided silent retreats.

Regardless of where you are in your walk with God, we are committed and excited to journey with you and grow as a faithful and loving community.

Do keep a lookout for announcements on upcoming programs or contact Thomas Handoyo at thomas@hvmc.sg for any queries.

Filipino Fellowship

HVMC FF (Filipino Fellowship) seeks to:

  1. Provide an environment where our Filipino family can experience the love of Christ as well as feel welcomed, embraced and accepted unconditionally just as Christ accepted us.

  2. Nurture and grow our Filipino family in the faith through bible study, group-sharing, leading at worship, acts of service, etc.

Missions

In Missions, our desire is to educate, create mission awareness and stir up our membersโ€™ passion and desire for Godโ€™s heartbeat so that everyone can be involved one way or another in our Fatherโ€™s harvest field.

Our church has adopted Timor Leste and Japan, thus these 2 countries are our main focus. Besides overseas missions, our local outreach especially is reaching out to overseas students from ACS International School, a โ€œmission fieldโ€ right at our doorstep.

Outreach & Social Concerns

HVMC has always had its roots in being a church where loving God and loving others matter.

HVMC is uniquely placed by God in an area surrounded by many low-income families living in rental flats. We reach out to the needy and marginalized in our neighbourhood by befriending them.

We embrace the motto of โ€œJust for Loveโ€œ by giving monthly financial assistance, pocket money and student bursaries to needy families regardless of race, religion and creed.

Our activities include outings, the celebration of special festive days like Chinese New Year, Mooncake Festival and Christmas.

We provide opportunities for the congregation to build bridges, to show the love and compassion of Christ by becoming befrienders.

To find out more about OSC, please contact Bruce at bruce@hvmc.sg or 64767795.

Outreach & Social Concerns

Witness & Evangelism

St. Augustine said, โ€Thou hast made us for Thyself, O God, and our hearts are restless until they find rest in Thee.โ€

God calls everyone to be His agent to share His goodness, to tell the world that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life, that salvation is a free gift from God. That there is hope in this hopeless world.

In the Witness & Evangelism ministry, we organise the following activities for you, your friends and family, as well as our neighbours around us:

Block Blessing

We bless the blocks around our church in the yearly โ€œBlock Blessingโ€ event. Through the Block Blessing, we can practically extend Godโ€™s love, goodness and compassion with our neighbours living around our church.

Fellowship Activities

We organise various fellowship activities where we create opportunities for conversations to take place. One of our favourite activity is the Nature Walk where we take in the beauty of what nature has to offer, while allowing for time and space for conversations, we otherwise would not have the time to have, to happen.

Alpha Course

We run regular Alpha courses which is a platform for friends and family to ask difficult questions about the Christian faith, and to explore placing their trust in Jesus Christ. Alpha is defined by good fellowship and open conversations for anyone at any stage of life.

Sharing of Testimonies

Whenever something good happens to us, we cannot help but share about it. Sharing of how we have experience Godโ€™s love, His goodness and His faithfulness in our lives is a powerful way to encourage those who are in similar situations as us. Sharing of testimonies helps to build faith for what God can do in your life. If you have a testimony to share, do not hesitate to write to us!

Youth Ministry

The Youth Ministry of Holland Village Methodist Church (HVMC) builds the faith of youths aged 13 to 18, seeking to help them make the virtues of Christ their own. We also seek to reach out to youths of our target age groups, and to lead them towards knowing Christ.

Our Youth Service focuses on:

Godโ€™s Word
We devote sufficient time to the teaching and preaching of Godโ€™s Word. Our youths learn how to study Godโ€™s Word for themselves in group settings.

Relationships
Relationships are the context in which discipleship takes place.  We give time and space for relationships to form and grow deep.

Fun
Our environment is engaging, fun and energetic.

Service
We empower our youths to serve through organising activities, leading Life Groups and running the Youth Service.  To grow in discipleship, future generations must learn to serve. Jesus came to serve and not to be served.

HVMC Youth Service:

  • Saturdays, except 1st Sundays, 2.30pm to 5.30pm @ Sports Block, Level 6, John Wesley Hall
(Please join our Sunday Service on 1st Sundays for Holy Communion)

For more information on our Youth Service, please contact Janine Lum at janine@hvmc.sg or 6476 7795.
